Microsoft Battles in Court

Bill Gates
"Business is going to change more in the next ten years
than it has in the last fifty."
--Bill Gates, Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect

Information about the Microsoft Corp. is as big as the company itself. Since it was founded in 1975, Microsoft has not only kept up with the speed of changing technology, it has led the way to new advances. The Microsoft vision is "to empower people through great software - any time, any place and on any device." Because of Microsoft's great success and because of its great size it has been closely watched for any violation of antitrust laws. The Federal Trade Commission first examined its practices in 1990. Beginning as early as August 1995, Microsoft went to court for violating antitrust. After a long legal battle Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson ruled that Microsoft was to be split up into two companies. Microsoft is currently appealing that decision. This site is an informational resource designed to briefly outline the case and point to additional web sites and news articles that will bring understanding to the impact of Microsoft's legal battles.
