Owens was recently acquired in March, in a trade with the San Diego Padres. Scouts consider him as a "throw back player" because of his gutsy style of play. He's one who will run into outfield walls in pursuit of fly balls, slide head first, while stealing bases and most of all, according to manager John Boles, "get-dirty." However, this is not his first stint with the Marlins. In 1998 he was on the team for two days.
