What is it?
The "Nebuta(paper-mache floats representing men, animals and birds)" are placed on carriage and pulled through the streets. Each gigantic "Nebuta" is lit up from inside the float, creating a fantastic atmosphere of the festival. The floats are usually reprsentation of the famous historical figures, telling a dramatic scene of a particular story. Also, a special folk dance, "Haneto (literaly meaning, flying men) dance," accompanies the carnival of "Nebuta." Many spectators jump in to join the dance.
When is it? 8/2~8/7
