In this day and age of technological advances, the new information highways make it easy to
collect, retrieve and process large amounts of information on the computer. Public and private
agencies have the ability to share information from each database, thus being able to compile a
complete personal profile of a person in just minutes. It used to take hours, sometimes days
to complete a personal profile on a person for a number of reasons: location, amount of work,
importance. Computer electronic means has made transferring information cheaply and efficiently
the common practice amoung businesses. With all this information being sent across the electronic
world leaves many questions unanswered.
It is no secret that the electronic-communication capabilities enhance many businesses and corporations
with immediacy. Yet, the information sent can be stored and retrieved by others. For example,
a person can conduct bank transactions from the home with the new technology. The personal information
sent to the bank; account number, social security, password, are now available to the government
and other businesses. They can gather and exchange private personal information without the
person ever knowing.
