The Beginning of Internet Radio

The Internet radio industry is still very young. According to Hobbes' Internet Timeline, the first so-called "cyberstation," RT-FM in Las Vegas, made the first on-line broadcast in 1994. Others followed that same year, including WXYC from the University of North Carolina, WJHK from the University of Kansas, and KUGS from Western Washington University. Since that first year, over 1,200 American stations and many others around the globe have began netcasting.
