How to block

Playing defense in Ultimate Frisbee is another important skill. Defensive play includes attempting to block a pass by guarding a passer or receiver with your arms, legs and torso.

As a guard, Chris says, focus on blocking off half the field of play from an offensive player. If your fellow defensive teammates do the same, hopefully you'll prevent a completed pass by the offense.

When playing defense, an important consideration is height.

If you are taller than the passer, you may want to play in front of him. This will force the passer to have to get lower to make a pass.

If you are shorter than the passer, consider guarding him from behind, where you may have a better chance of making a play on the disc.
