    About Semi-Automatic Guns

Semi-Automatic guns were invented by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicherin in Germany in 1885. He called the first gun "Steyr Mahnlicher M1894."

A semi-automatic gun is a gun that requires only a trigger to pull each round. There are many different varieties of semi-automatic guns, pistols, rifles and shotguns. "Semi-automatic" means the gun has closed bolt firing system. This means a round must be in the chamber manually before the weapon can fire. An open bolt mechanism is a common characteristic of semi-automatic guns.
