Otherwise, the basic premise is that the tattoo artist follows an outline he or she has transferred to the skin, then fills in with shading and color. While the process is relatively self-explanatory, here are a few things to note:
- The needle is loud. The buzzing may be surprising to some, but it's rhythmic pulse is necessary to ensure ink coverage.
- Pricing is typically done one of two ways: either by size of the tattoo itself or by the hour. Pricing by the hour is primarily done for larger or more intricate tattoos, or more renowned artists. In addition, there is usually a shop minimum, so don't expect to pay thirty dollars just because you want a dime-sized design.
