After 7-10 days, the the surface of your beer should have a head of bubbles from look something like this:

Your beer is now drinkable, but you still won't recognize it as beer. It has a bit more fermenting to do, and it neds to be carbonated to bring out its full flavor.

If you want to know for sure when your beer is done, invest in a hydrometer, which can tell you how much alcohol your beer contains. When the seal stops bubbling for a few days, fermentation is probably winding down. If your value alcohol content, err on the side of patience.

Bottling is much more straightforward and less time consuming than brewing. Make sure you have another 3⁄4 lb dextrose handy for step 2, then proceed with the steps on the left. Once you bottle, your beer will be done in about a week.

This stage is an excellent recycling opportunity. Start saving beer bottles and caps. Many brewers prefer self-sealing bottles that don't need to be capped, like the one in the picture, and go out of their way to collect them. Soaking the bottles in ammonia will remove the tags; bleach will sanitize them. DO NOT do both at once - mixing bleach and ammonia can create deadly fumes.
