Preparing mate is easy, however, you will enjoy it much more if you follow these tips.
Don’t burn the yerba mate. Never drink the first mates with boiling water. This will cause the yerba mate to become bitter and damaging for your throat.
Covered Mate. When pouring hot water into the mate, don’t cover the surface of dry yerba completely with hot water. If you do, the air contained in the mate will come out through the filter of the bombilla dragging a lot of yerba to the surface and making the mate taste extremely bitter
When to mix the yerba mate. It’s important to know when to put the yerba that hasn’t been wet(bottom of mate) on the surface and push the wet yerba to the bottom. The bombilla may be utilized as a spoon to mix the yerba.
Slow down. Between mates wait about five to ten minutes. If you drink all the mate at once, you will probably have a stomachache.
