Obey laws

You can study 10 hours a day and spend the rest of your time socializing, but breaking the law can bring a pretty immediate halt to your college career, or at the very least put a damper on your day. Central to having a successful freshman year at UF is following the laws and staying out of trouble. Doing so will keep your stress at a minimum!

A University of Florida Police Department officer said that the most common type of laws that freshmen break is bicycle law. Most students do not know even the most basic bicycle laws. Click on the link to learn about them and to hear from Capt. Jeff Holcomb, of the UFPD.

Out-of-state students may have more trouble with certain Florida state laws. Probably one of the most commonly broken (and heavily protested) law prohibits the possession of alcohol for anyone under 21 years old!
