What You'll Need
There are 7 necessary tools for removing and replacing your oil.
- 4-6 quarts of motor oil (check the Oil Guide for your car)
- new filter (also in the Oil Guide)
- socket wrench set
- oil filter wrench
- drain pan
- funnel
- wheel ramps
I also find it handy to have a few rags, this is not a clean job! Also make sure that you wear clothes that you don't mind destroying, because on the first time around you'll probably get pretty dirty.
You can purchase all of these items from your local parts store or even buy them online through AutoZone. It will seem a bit pricey at first, but everything but the oil and filter are re-usable. Buy it all once and you'll have it for life!
