What is Contact Juggling?

Contact juggling is a form of object manipulation that is very different from traditional styles of juggling. In traditional toss juggling, the focus is on manipulation of objects while they are airborne. In contact juggling, the objects being juggled remain in constant contact with the body, hence the name. The usual object being manipulated in contact juggling is a clear ball and the idea is to maintain the illusion that the clear ball is fixed in space while the body moves around the ball. There are three primary moves used: bodyrolling, palmspinning and isolations.

Though it has a short history, contact juggling is gradually growing in popularity. It is a beautiful form of object manipulation, both exciting and mysterious. Yet, it is easy to learn and requires no prior skill. All that is required to become a skillful contact juggler is dedication and lots of practice.
