My messy pantry with filters from Kmart.

Get filters

Though some automatic drip coffee makers nowadays have a permanent, reusable filter, it is most likely that you will end up with a coffee maker that uses disposable paper filters.

Feel free to buy the cheapest of the cheap filters (mine were $1 at Kmart), but be aware of size (the package will indicate what size range coffee pots they'll work with). A pack like the one you see in the messy pantry to the right will last you a few months depending on how often you brew.
