Abby Wambach

Abby Wambach is an American soccer player expected to compete in the 2008 games. Wambach was a member of the 2007 team that competed in the World Cup.
Florida: Wambach holds the record for all-time goals at Florida with 96, assists with 50 and points with 242. She was named the 2000 and 2001 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. She left. As a freshman, she scored 19 goals to help the Gators win the 1998 National Championship.

Past Olympics: Wambach was a member of the 2004 Olympic team that took gold in Athens. The U.S. won gold after her header found the back of the net, which turned out to be the deciding goal, against Brazil in a 2-1 win.
