Do-It-Yourself Guides
- SNOWFLAKE THEME -
- Invitations: Add the glittery silver snowflakes to jumbo tag cards for a simple, distinctive invitation.
- Luminaries: Create a glowing, wintry scene with snowflake-printed luminaries! Simply roll a sheet of snowflake vellum into a cylinder and hold with vellum tape. Vary the heights by cutting the 8-1/2" X 11" sheets of vellum to 7-1/2" X 11" and 6-1/2" X 11". Set a tea light inside for a frosty glow. Add punched out snowflakes to carry out the snowy theme.
- Placecards: Cut white card stock to 2-1/2" X 4-1/4" and use a 1-1/4" circle punch to cut a hole for the napkin in the lower half of the paper. Write the name (or print on the computer before cutting) above the hole and stick the silver snowflake on the top half to create a sparkly decor for the table.
- CHRISTMAS TOY THEME -
- Gift Enclosure Set: A set of gift tags make a fun hostess gift. They're easy to make and it's something everyone can use. To make these all we did was attach one of the Christmas stickers on the new gift tags cards. We used silver cording to tie each tag and matching envelope and packaged the set in a silver metallic square tin. You could decorate the tin if you want or leave it just plain. It's beautiful by itself.
- All Around the House: Find cheap teddy bears and dolls at your local thrift stores. Dress them up with ribbons and holiday fabrics. Group them under your tree, on mantels and on windowsills. Stack small squares of cardboard together, wrap as a tiny present, then tuck them under a teddy's arm, or wrap an empty box and use it as teddy's seat by the front door.
- Picture frames: Take down your pictures and wrap them like a gift, then hang them back on the wall for great holiday cheer! You don't have to do this all around the house, how about just in the entry, or maybe the dining room?
- CHRISTMAS TREE THEME -
- All Around the House: Place a few inexpensive glass balls in a bowl and embellish with a few sprigs of greenery or some leftover ribbon. If you don't have an extra bowl, try decoupaging a box with leftover Christmas wrap, or cover with a little fabric and glue.
- Chandelier: Tie greens or ornaments to the chandelier with a little Christmas ribbon, just make sure they don't hang low enough for any candles on the table to catch them on fire.
- Beaded Wreath Ornament Card: This metal tile can be taken off the card and hung onto a Christmas tree. The beaded wreath was made by stringing the holiday bead collection onto a short piece of wire. The ribbon was tied around the twisted ends of the wire and then glued to the metal tag. The tag was attached to the card using double stick mounting tape. Notice the bright red metallic paper used behind the tile. It really makes the ornament stand out.
- STARS THEME -
- Windows: Sponge stars or other seasonal shapes on your window with paint! Just add a teaspoon or so of liquid dish soap to acrylic craft paint, (I like white or gold metallic) and after the holidays you can wash it off with window cleaner. Use a non-scratching dish scrubber if you come across a stubborn spot.
- Wrapping Paper Stars: These stellar but surprisingly easy party decorations (they come together with just a few cuts and twists) are made from all those odds and ends of holiday wrap you'd otherwise toss in the trash. Hang one or dozens to brighten up the house come party time.
- WHITE LIGHTS THEME -
- Outside: If your party is at home, decorate outside with little white twinkling lights. Snow or not, your house will glitter and glow.
- Inside: No Winter Wonderland is complete without lights - blinking, twinkling, dazzling lights. Hang strands of blinking snowflakes mixed in with twinkling white lights on the walls, staircase railing or twisted together on the fireplace mantle. Winter wonderland dangles will beautifully reflect off the lights and create a feeling of magic in the room.
