The Locker Room Every jersey's journey begins in the locker room with the team's equipment manager. Jerseys must be ordered for the players, and many are customized to meet a player's particular needs.

Teams wear multiple sets of jerseys throughout a season. A set of jerseys typically includes one home and one road jersey per player. Usually, a team will use one set for the preseason, one for the first part of the regular season, one for the second part and a third set to be used during the last few games of the regular season and throughout the playoffs.

There have been many NHL jersey manufacturers over the years, and different teams have used different manufacturers at different times. Each jersey also has different unique tagging depending on the team, lettering company and jersey manufacturer.

Hockey jerseys are also broken down in to a few categories depending on when/if a jersey was worn and for which purpose it was made.
