Conspirators find flaws in every possible location. The ramifications of a cashless society are definitely not exempt from such plots.
1) Involuntary Surveillance Society: Some conspirators believe that tracking purchases and monitoring digital communications will be more prevalent in a cashless society. This makes sense, especially if biometrics is used to identify consumers. It is believed the society would function in the same vein as East Germany, which had as many as 300,000 informants reporting ‘politically incorrect’ behavior (possibly the retailers would report purchases).
2) New World Order: The theory that a unitary government would rule under a single leader. It theorizes that the richest people in the world as well as the owners of all the largest banks are tied to the freemasons, stonecutters, and illuminati. The theory also states that there would be a world capital and you must be a citizen of the unitary government to buy or sell.
3) Mark Of The Beast: Perhaps the most interesting and well developed of the conspiracies, the roots are found in the book of revelation where 13:17 reads: "... no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or name of the beast, or the number of his name." This could play into any number of the new technologies already available - possibly the VeriChip or the Moneo Card. The theory is fairly similar to the “New World Order” speculation, except this plays into the beliefs held by many sects of Christianity.
