Hernando Music Project

Everyone knows that the best way to tell a story is through a song, and the best thing to write a song about is Hernando County. Few subjects can be as fun and challenging for a songwriter to tackle, so here is a small collection of songs about Hernando County.

If you would like to see one of your Hernando County songs up here, send it along with the lyrics to whiteandbosche@yahoo.com.

Robo DeSoto is a ballad about teen angst in Hernando County. It mentions just about everything there is to do for a young person in Hernando and, to top it off, a robot sings it!

Hernando is a song about some local characters including the guy named Caveman who stands at the intersection of Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Boulevard and yells at cars all day. The song also touches on the enchanting pink dinosaur.

Robo DeSoto by Chris White
Signed into law in 1843, and ever since it's been the place to be.
Civil War battles and dinosaurs, mermaids monkeys and a million stores.
The Spring Hill strip is always tight,
If I see you at Score's we're going to fight.
Hanging out in the parking lot, don't even show up unles your car is hot.
Chowing down at 3 a.m., running out on the bill again.
Soap the fountain and run away, stealing stuff almost every day.
Skate on up to Stewey's park, smoke some cigs and wait until dark.
Get a ride home from my mom, skipping school won't do no harm.
And it's another day in Hernando, the greatest place on earth.
Yes, just another day in Hernando.
Do not speed on Waterfall, or on the way to Gulf View Mall.
The dirt roads will make us swerve,
When we race out cars past the primate reserve.
I think I'll call in sick tonight, meet my friends and bowl all night.
Maybe we'll throw back a few,
But we need someone old enough to buy the brew.
And it's just another day in Hernando, the greatest place on earth.
Yes, just another day in Hernando.
Hernando by Dan Ryan
Oh, Hernando,
You can see the guy at Cumberland Farms with the glow sticks,
You can see the pink dinosaur.
So majestic on U.S. 19.
You can see the guy who yells at all the cars.
You can go to the Spring Hill strip and see all the bars.
You can see the majestic dinosaur.
You've never been to Hernando.
Don't try to steal it, that's county theft.
You know if I ever try to leave Hernando, it feels like I barely left.
You remember the pink dinosaur, the one I mentioned before?
He ain't no Jurassic Park, but he captured out hearts.
