Traveling east from downtown Stuart, Ocean Boulevard crosses two low bridges before arriving on Hutchinson Island. As the road veers north, becoming A1A, the entrance to Stuart Beach is spotted easily by a large sign and the neighboring Elliott Museum.

Stuart Beach is a recreational hub for coastal Martin County. A pavement parking lot provides plenty of room for beachgoers, with extra parking on the grass along the west side for busy weekends and tourist season.

Three boardwalks provide convenient access to the beach, with a large snack bar located between two of them. The chicken fingers and lemonade receive high marks for concessions. You can find bathrooms and changing areas connected on the north side.

Beginning surfers flock to Stuart Beach because of the sandy bottom and coastline, along with the safety of lifeguards. Surfing, and the water in general, is a major influence on many locals. It’s not uncommon to see business men change out of their pinstripes and into their baggies after work for a sunset session.
