Christmas Markets

Nuremberg has one of the oldest and most popular Christmas markets in Germany, known as the “Christkindlesmarkt.” Christmas markets like Christkindlesmart carry food like baked fruit loaves, bratwurst and roasted nuts, as well as all types of gifts and goodies for every shopper. The markets open at the beginning of December and last until Christmas Eve.

Lebkuchen

The spices in lebkuchen (spicy cookie) represent a time when Nuremberg was the spice trading capital of the world.

Prune People

Prune people are very popular in Germany. These people are decorated as all types of people and stand about ten inches high. The saying goes, “You will never be without gold and happiness, if you have a prune person in your house.”
