Canadian Christmas Classics

Yule Log Cake

A chocolate cake shaped like a log and symbolizing the birch log burned in the fireplaces before the French discovered Canada.

Kissing Ball

This fun English Canadian tradition was made of a ring of evergreen branches, decorated with nuts, berries and more. Though the ring actually symbolized the end of the winter solstice, young men would try to catch single women under it and steal a kiss, therefore earning the name “kissing ball.” This tradition is very much like the American mistletoe.
