THE ALBUM

[a picture of a section of the album cover]

Over the years, since its initial release, many artists have come forward and declared Pet Sounds as one of their most favorite albums. Some go as far as saying it is the single best album of all time.

Another great album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", by The Beatles, was influenced directly by Pet Sounds. "Without Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper wouldn't have happened...Pepper was an attempt to equal Pet Sounds," said George Martin, producer for The Beatles.

The recording for the album began in July of 1965 unofficially with the song "Sloop John B." The last song recorded for the album was "Here Today" in March of 1966. "Good Vibrations," one of The Beach Boys biggest hits, was recorded during the Pet Sounds sessions but was not completed in time to be included on the album.
