THE ALBUM

[a picture of a section of the album cover]

It was May of 1966. Capitol Records released an album by The Beach Boys called Pet Sounds.
At the time of its release, it was an ignored masterpiece. It was a different album for a different era in music.
With this album The Beach Boys no longer sounded like the surfing band they did only a couple years before its release.

Having heard The Beatles' "Rubber Soul" album, Brian Wilson, the genius behind Pet Sounds, decided to make an album as complete and as good, if not better, than Rubber Soul. While the rest of the Beach Boys toured, Brian stayed in the studio recording the instrumental tracks as well as some vocal tracks for the album.
