Although Southerners love to eat collard greens, cornbread, and watermelon, those foods aren't the only dishes that folks with a drawl enjoy. I come from a Southern family that has a love for an assortment of foods from all over the world. Many of my family's recipes incorporate herbs and spices that have roots in different countries. French and Cajun accents are the most noticable. I've included just a few recipes for some basic meals and side dishes that are among my favorites. Although I consider myself to be an excellent cook on the non-professional level, I realize not everyone has that magic touch in the kitchen. So, I've tried to pick quick and easy recipes that won't cause you to doubt yourself as a cook. I hope you have as enjoy these foods just as much as much as I do, and have fun while preparing them. Good luck! - M. Parsons
