In some capacity, I am a journalist. I cover mostly music and entertainment
related stuff. I have reported other things - news, sports, school - but,
I'd rather do what I do now.
In Gainesville, I spent three years burning both ends at the Gator Times.
It was good times and worth the knowledge I gained, but, it feels like
I got cheated. When that place got flushed, I moved on up Jeffersons-style.
Now I'm basically doing the same thing at Detours at the Alligator. Thus
far, it's been a spectacular situation. In retrospect, it looks like the
Gator Times set me up to be able to do this. Cool.
Above the whole journalist thing is writing. It is what it is. I think I got something. I assume we'll soon see if I'm wrong. Don't worry about what I'm working on, though.
Music is constant. As in, always in my head or playing in the background
Oh, and reading is a lot of what I do. I read everything I can find -
books, magazines, newspapers, internet. I think that a decent portion
of what I know about writing, and all the things I have managed to connect
to it, comes from all the reading. I've learned a whole lot at school,
I'd be a complete schmuck to think otherwise, but, I'd rather just dedicate
myself to the work, journalistic or not, and avoid listening to somebody
tell me about it. Most of what I know, I've learned by doing it.
Oooh, I sound like a rebellious teenager. Or at least one who is completely
full of himself.
Anyway, I sit around a lot. I've found a lot of good in the television - cable news, at least. I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend, Rachel. And while this usually allows me to accomplish absolutely nothing, I'd rather hang out with her than do most anything else, so, whatever. There's a page in here about her, so, just refer to that for more.
