Independent Florida Alligator (Spring 2013)

  • Work as a contributing writer and copy editor
  • Produce stories weekly and come into the office once a week to edit copy and fact-check with other writers (Aug. 2012- Feb. 2013)

  • Worked as the Breaking News Editor
  • Managed a team of writers to produce new content in the fields of sports, politics and breaking news; I edited writer’s work and created my own

UF News Bureau (Spring 2012)

  • Worked as an intern at the UF News Bureau in University Relations, where I interviewed and wrote press releases, formatted for the “LegisGator” and edited releases
  • Learned interviewing skills, how to work in a professional environment and how to copy edit

Independent Florida Alligator (Fall 2011)

  • Wrote a blog on sustainability and environment issues called the “Alligreener,” published every Friday
  • Covered topics as contributing writer on issues around Gainesville and on UF campus
  • Learned AP Style and how to write on deadline

Resident Assistant, UF Department of Housing and Residence Education (Aug. 2011- May. 2012)

  • Managed conflicts among residents
  • Built community by planning programs for residents to attend and co-programmed with other RAs
  • Decorated my hallway for the residents to enjoy and created educational bulletin boards every month
  • Learned how to serve as a mentor and resource to other students
