My name is Mallory Leibowitz and I’m from Cooper City, Fla., a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. I am a sophomore at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Marketing and a minor in Mass Communication. Thus far my major has exposed me to information that makes me both motivated and excited to continue my studies in Marketing. In just a year and a half I have made strides towards discovering what I am good at and passionate about.
The University of Florida has always been a “way of life” in my family. My parents, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins have been training me to know that "it’s great to be a Florida Gator" since I was born. During Fall semester I love getting together with a thousand of my closest friends and watching some Gator football. Then during Spring semester I spend my spare time hanging out by the pool. I also enjoy discovering and listening to music. I could spend hours moving from one music blog to the next. In fact I hope to go to Bonnaroo, a three-day music festival in Tennessee this summer. Since the festival is only three days I will be taking Managerial Accounting while working at an advertising agency for the first half of the summer. Then during the second half of the summer I hope to be abroad in Florence, Copenhagen or Prague.
It is safe to say that my sophomore year has been just as busy as my summer will be. This year I was selected to be in the Warrington School of Business Florida Leadership Academy. Every week 100 sophomores in the business school learn about topics such as leadership, ethics, career development, and professional communication. I was also selected to be a part of the Student Government Productions team, which allows me to help select and promote musical performances at the University of Florida. Popular artists such as Hoodie Allen, Childish Gambino, Passion Pit, and Kendrick Lamar have performed at UF over the last few months.
This year has been amazing and I look forward to what the future has in store!
