When I first met my guidance counselor my freshman year of high school, I proudly told her she was looking at the future Secretary of State. I had dreams of going to law school and becoming a politician, but after my first public speaking class, I realized politics wasn't for me.
Growing up in Miami, Fla., I was the kid whose head was always stuck in a book. I wrote every day in a fuzzy pink journal and was never the kind of person that wanted to be front and center.
Thankfully, a year later my sophomore English teacher, Mrs. Mallafre, convinced me to sign up for the school newspaper. I had an extra slot in my schedule so I did and I never looked back.
I currently reside in Gainesville, Fla., where I am a student at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications pursuing a Bachelor of Science in journalism with a consentration in online media.
