When I'm not scanning through online celebrity news sites for breaking entertainment stores to read, I'm sneaking bites of vegan cookie batter, not caring whether they'll be enough to make two-dozen cookies. Baking, like journalism today, is open to creativity. Adding twists to existing recipes allows me to use my creativity and take pride in what I contributed. I feel accomplished whenever I successfully bake a dessert from scratch, even if it's as simple as chocolate cake.
Baking has also served as a form of therapy. If I've had a rough day, baking takes my mind off of it because making sure my banana chocolate chip muffins don't burn in the oven is the only thing on my mind. Whenever I do wreck whatever I'm baking, I usually make jokes out of it and think of ways to improve.
