Animal rescue finds new home: This story was an adventure. To write it, I rode on the back of a motorcycle with a riding group down to the secluded Ocala National Forest. There, I met Lisa and Kurt, two very driven, dedicated people. I was able to tell their story and highlight the volunteer work of some Gainesville-area motorcycle riders as well. (Feb. 17, 2013)

A modern-day Noah's Ark: This was a follow-up I wrote to the story above. The animals from the sanctuary made a safe trip up to Marion County, though the journey was not easy. This as well as the original story ran on 1A. (Feb. 27, 2013)

Hungry hundreds pack in for first Food Truck Rally: An example of event coverage, this article ran on the front page of the Sun's local section. Gainesville was a little late to the food-truck trend, and I covered their first official rally. It was a deadline story that covered the patrons, businesses and logistics of the event. UF stunts cheerleading tumbling program: I broke this story for The Independent Florida Alligator. I saw cheerleaders tweeting about the ban, and though they couldn't speak with the press, I was able to track down a source involved with the squad and able to comment. This story ran on the front page of the Alligator and was shared over a hundred times on social media. (Nov. 19, 2012)

Florida ranks in top five for passing AP exams: This article I wrote for WUFT. It was a statewide story, but I approached it from a local angle. There were a few discrepancies as far as what the spokeswoman said and what the data said, so it was an example of lining up facts and telling the story in the most honest, understandable way possible. What to know about voting in Alachua County's spring 2013 local election: This is an important, informative piece on how voters in the area can update their registration information and access sample ballots and candidate info. (Feb. 13, 2013)
