The Writer Gene

From newspaper articles to short stories, I love to write. Ever since I was a kid, I would make up fantasies about princesses and monsters so that my mom would hang them on the fridge.

Twenty years later, hundreds of people are seeing my work since I write for the Gainesville Sun newspaper. I have taken my passion for words and transformed it into a career. What better job is there than being a writer? One day never looks like another. You are encouraged to use your imagination and creativity, and you can meet people from all walks of life to tell others their stories.

I knew I always wanted to be a writer. It was that excitement that spread through my body when my grade school teacher would say, "Take out a pen and paper, class. It's time to write." It's the excitement that I still have now when I see my name in print above an article that I know is well-written. I hope to keep this passion alive throughout my career as a writer, and I hope my writing style flourishes throughout my life.
