On December 22, 1991, I was born in Manasquan, NJ.
Two blocks from the pristine white beaches and shiny new boardwalk on the Jersey Shore, I learned how to take my first steps and say my first words.
Although I live in Florida now, New Jersey is still a major part of me. I visit every year for the duration of one month to see friends, family and my heritage.
I love the sounds of the waves crashing against the beach, the smells of fair foods wafting across the boardwalks and the giant wrap-around porches that encircle each house on every street.
I am going back this July to visit my grandmother for her 70th birthday. We will stay at my family's beach house and enjoy a Fourth of July barbecue with the sand in our toes. I can't wait to go back home.
