My current positon as a graduate student at the University of Florida includes working as a reporting lab instructor coaching undergraduate students in developing story angles, conducting interviews and crafting compelling articles suitable for publication.

In addition, as a member of the Board of Directors for the The Independent Florida Alligator, I lend my experience and expertise to conducting the business side of the largest student-run newspaper in the United States.

My resume is attached for your convenience. Samples of my work and letters of reference are available for review upon request. Please email me at the contact link below and I will be sure to respond within one business day.

Yvonne Schultz
Schultz talks of life in the former East.

I've included a SoundSlide project that I did during a trip to Berlin in 2008. Just 10 years old when the Berlin Wall came down, Yvonne Schultz spoke of her family's life under the Communist regime including years of surveillance by the Secret Police and the first time she ever saw a banana--she brought the treat home to share with her brother and mother. Today, Schultz is an associate for a multi-national firm based in Berlin.

This project was a great way for me to utilize my reporting skills and photography in exploring a new venue for storytelling. I think this type of multimedia adds to the "show, don't tell" tenet that journalists live by and displays, though in the briefest of manner, the diversity and dimensionality of 21st century journalism.

I truly believe that while print journalism may be dead--insofar as paper is concerned--there is still a desperate need for good journalism in our community. At the beginning of each semester, I ask my telecom, PR and advertising students if they resent having to take the reporting course. A) it's a demanding course and B) its a prerequisite for thier course track. Better than 90 percent always give me a resounding yes! But nearly every one has agreed that it made their writing skills better, and so they are better broadcast writers, advertising agents and public relations specialists.

As a freelance writer, editor and marketing director, not to mention former independent business owner, I know self-motivation and a creative thought process has been my key to success. I believe these qualities, as well as my experience in news production, design, marketing and business management make me an excellent edition to any team, and I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you at your earliest convenience.
