I love to bake. It's one of my favorite things to do whenever I have some down time. I'm not the most creative person ever when it comes to inventing my own recipes, but there are a few things I do particularly well.

Cocacola Cake

Coca Cola Cake

Coca Cola Cake is my personal specialty. We have an old family recipe that my grandmother gave my mom and has since been passed down to me. I usually ask for it for my birthday, or just make it for myself. I can't give you our secret family recipe, but you can find one that's nearly as good here. The nuts in the icing are optional. My family prefers it without them. It's pretty quick to make and is guaranteed to be a big hit at any occassion.

Gingerbread Teddy Bear

Gingerbread Teddy Bears

I started making these this past Christmas. I saw the recipe in one of my mom's cook books and just had to try them. They're a little labor intensive. It takes about four hours total to make them. The end result is pretty darn cute. I'm not very good with icing, so instead of the little bows in the original recipe, I make them have scarves instead. They're pretty tasty though, and they make great gifts. I used them as stocking stuffers for both of my parents. The only downside is that the recipe only makes about 12 cookies if you're lucky. However, the cookies are the size of your hand.
