Florida’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center has a reputation around the Southeastern Conference as being a scary place to play. The O'Dome earned the nickname, "The House of Horrors", after the Gators posted an impressive 14-1 home record in the 1998-1999 season.
Florida’s student section, dubbed the Rowdy Reptiles, has made the O’Connell Center one of the toughest places to play in the league.
UF students may attend the basketball games for free with a valid student ID. It is a battle to get a seat in the Rowdy Reptile section. Students sometimes even camp overnight to get front-row seats.
The Rowdy Reptiles stand up for the entire game and are known to harass the opposing players. The students are a key factor in the Gator's success at the O'Dome. The Rowdy Reptiles receive numerous promotionals from the UAA department of Marketing and Promotions to reward their support. Such items include t-shirts, foam fingers and even scary masks they can wear, fitting with the theme of "The House of Horrors.
The Gators had another impressive season this year at home, losing only once. The loss came to Tennessee in overtime.
