My first attempt at running a marathon flat out failed. I worked my way up to a half marathon and then lost motivation. On the second go-around, I decided that I couldnít do it by myself. So I joined a local track club and set a goal to run a marathon before I graduate in May 2009.

A Running Philosophy

While running may be an individual sport in regards to scoring, having other runners who can motivate and encourage you is the key to training for long distance races. The team-like atmosphere is what motivated me to get up early on Saturday mornings to train for the last five months, and it is what will push me across the finish line when I run my first marathon on February 22, 2009.
