A few of my favorite things...

I love food, plain and simple. I love food because it brings people together. I love sitting down to eat with friends and family; I find that the best conversations take place at the dinner table. I especially enjoy going out to dinner. Eating at the right restaurant, with the right food, the right people, and the right atmosphere is one of the pleasures of life. Of course with the way the economy is right now I don't get to go out for dinner with friends that much, but when I do I love to eat at one of Chef Bert Gill's restaurants (the guy you see on TV on Fridays on the local news....if you watch the local news). He owns Mildred' Big City Food, Ti Amo, and The New Deal Cafe. What is so great about chef's restaurants? They only use the freshest ingrediants in their foods, and most, if not all of their ingredients come from local farms; the food is fresh, rich, and very flavorful. If you are interested in finding out more about the Mildred's family click on the icons above. Support your local restaurants; I'm not saying don't ever go to a big corporate chain restaurant, but only that you should consider what the locals have to offer. Try something new!!!

Yes I like to read. However, I do not pretend to be a book worm. I don't read two books a week; I don't have a favorite author; and I don't have a favorite genre. I like the books I like for some reason that I cannot explain to you. Some of my favorite books are: The Lord of the Ring series and its prequel The Hobbit, Ana Karenina, East of Eden, 1984, Pride and Prejudice, Blindness, Veronika Decide Morir, El Amor en los Tiempos de Cholera, La Llamarada, and Cien Anos de Soledad. These are just a few of my favorite books that I have read so far. My recommendation to you is to read; read anything please. I have aquired a love for reading and so can anyone who seriously puts forth the effort.

And running...kind of.

Running and I have a love/hate relationship (Yes I know 'running' is not a person that can actually hold a relationship with another person, but it is the way I talk, so go with it). Running for me is a sprititual experience; there is nothing more uplifting than finishing a five mile run when your body and mind started complaining at mile two. Running makes me feel both physically and mentally good; it also gives me room to eat more.
