I love to travel, and I think I can safely say I have been to almost every state in the United States. Almost every year since I was 7 years old, my family has taken a summer vacation in a different state. Some have been incredibly fun and others not so much, but I must admit that experiencing a new place with my family has never been boring.

One of my favorite family vacations was a trip to Chicago, Illinois. I chose the city as our destination as a high school graduation present. There was so much to do while we were there it was almost overwhelming. One of my favorite memories though was visiting Mike Ditka's restaurant. My family is a huge fan, so it was neat seeing pictures of the Bears' coach hanging throughout the place. Another fun memory was scoping out where different movies were shot, like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Batman Begins.

One of the weirdest trips my family has taken though was to visit Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The lodge we stayed in was miserable because you could hear everything going on in every room next to you. In other words, sleep was hard to come by. Additionally, they let the buffalo run around wherever they wanted to on the hotel grounds, so it wasn't uncommon to find one standing outside the hotel lobby as you were about to leave. All in all, it was a good experience, but we did end up cutting our vacation short by a week.
