Thanks for checking out my page.
Since you're here, it's a good bet you're interested in some of the same things I am, which include beer, bicycling, music, cyberculture, games, and journalism. Of course, these are listed in no particular order.
This site will contain elements of all those things as it evolves over the weeks and months ahead. Look for family updates and pictures of the whole minivan-load, including the newest little tax deduction, Gavin.
I'm on academic leave from the Boston Globe, which is a surprisingly fun place to work. I'll include more about that in the work section. Studying mass media theory has compelled me to think about journalism in abstract terms again. Years of doing it almost made me forget why I started in the first place.
All this brain expansion is happening in Gainesville, Fla, a quiet college town in north central Florida. It's about an hour southwest of Jacksonville. It's about two hours north of Orlando. There's a football team. There's not much here besides the University of Florida, a huge school with about 47,000 students. The mass communication program is well-regarded and ranks in the top 10, according to U.S News and World Report, or some other magazine that busies itself with compiling those kinds of rankings. From what I've seen, the school seems to earn its keep.
