As an aspiring journalist, I try to constantly surround myself with all sorts of media. I feel as though multimedia is the way of print’s future and for that reason I try to immerse myself in it on a constant basis. I was fortunate enough to have been able to work with many different types of media through past jobs and an internship.

During my first job at a photo studio I worked at both the front desk and with the photographers. When I was serving as a photographer’s assistant I was able to get some first hand experience with working with high-quality cameras and photo editing.

My second job at a doctor’s office taught me about the necessity of organization when I had to unscramble years worth of unorganized medical records. After they were organized and more easily accessible, I created a digital database that allowed anyone in the office to access the medical records on a computer. This process was long and tedious and took two summers to complete.

Most recently I had an internship in Gainesville at Holbrook Travel, an educational travel agency, where I was responsible for a wide array of mixed media in their marketing department. I worked with Photoshop, Indesign, and iMovie as well as various social media sites including Twitter and Blogspot. With this internship I was able to get first-hand experience on how media comes together for a common purpose.

I look forward to continuing to work with mixed media and hope do so as I continue with my schooling and career.
