As I have been working since age 15 and have often worked multiple jobs at a time, I've amassed a plethora of working experience that I feel has benefited me as a person and enriched my abilities as a writer and an editor.

As a journalist, I have done a little bit of everything, though editing is my passion and focus. I have reported and written stories, blogged, shot photos, written headlines and cutlines for print and online, copy edited and content edited.

The Alligator I am currently the copy desk chief and a blogger for The Independent Florida Alligator, billed as the largest student-run newspaper in the U.S. Previously, I have been a copy editor and contributing writer. As copy desk chief, I manage seven copy editors — two or three per night — that check facts, grammar and style, including an in-house style that my co-copy desk chief and I have greatly expanded during our tenure.

From August 2009 to the present, I have also worked as a freelance editor. I have edited projects varying from personal websites to research projects for law students to graduate-school applications. I work on a case-by-case basis and my rates vary according to the level of editing desired. If you are interested in my editing services, please email me.

The Wall Street Journal During summer 2011, I interned as an editor at The Wall Street Journal, the largest newspaper in the U.S. by circulation. I worked on the National and International news desks during my time there. While there, I content and copy edited stories for multiple editions (Asia, Europe and U.S.) and online, wrote headlines and cutlines, compiled sections of briefs, cut stories and worked with reporters in various parts of the world and country.

Jacksonville Business Journal In summer 2010, I interned for the Jacksonville Business Journal. There, I copy edited, reported for the weekly publication, posted Web briefs and shot portrait photos. One of my main, and one of my favorite, duties was to write weekly profiles on members of the local business community.

Creative Writing

I had my first creative work, a poem and a brief devotional, published when I was 14 years old in "Penned From The Heart." I later had a short story titled "These Old Boots" published in The Experience, the literary magazine of Florida State College at Jacksonville.

I have also been a winning participant in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), in which writers pen a 50,000-word novel in just 30 days, every year since 2006. I am in the process of editing one of these novels for possible publication.

At age 15, I began working for Rick Keffer Dodge, where I tended the service department's repair order and invoice files for about three years. During my time there, I refined the filing system and honed my attention to detail and love for keeping things in order.

Around the same time, I also began working as a cleaning assistant with Maid in the South. I worked uninterrupted with Maid in the South for two years until I moved to Gainesville, and I have worked on and off for the company when I'm in the Fernandina Beach area.

I have also sporadically served as a model for Kiwi Lee Photography and LMO Photography. Photographs in which I served as a model have won awards from the Greater Jacksonville Fair.

I will graduate from the University of Florida in December 2011 with a bachelor of science in journalism, summa cum laude, and a bachelor of arts in English, cum laude. Prior to attending UF, I graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonville with an associate of arts degree with high honors at the same time that I graduated from a home education program with a high school diploma. I have maintained GPAs at or above 3.95 at every institution that I have attended.

I have worked with Macs and PCs, Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy, and Microsoft Office programs including Excel, which is one of my favorite tools. I can speak and write in Spanish (though I won't call myself fluent) and am studying Hindi, in which I'm able to carry on a short conversation though I have difficulty writing and reading Devanagari characters. I am very knowledgable of Associated Press style, am familiar with Chicago style and am quick to learn new styles.

I am a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society, Golden Key International Honour Society and the Society of Professional Journalists. I was also a Dow Jones News Fund editing program intern and scholarship recipient. I have also received the Florida Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars scholarship, the Peter G. Gordon Sun-Sentinel scholarship and the Freedom Forum Scholarship.

While a student at FSCJ, I consistently achieved Dean's List and President's List designations, leading to graduation with high honors.
