Since September of last year, I have worked at the Independent Florida Alligator, the largest student-run newspaper in the nation, as a copy editor and, later on, copy desk chief. Joining its staff was one of the best decisions I've ever made. While working there, I gained valuable editing experience and made unforgettable friendships. In addition, I have learned that the newsroom is quite a rowdy place. People can say some pretty unusual things while sitting at a desk until 12:30 a.m.

I am hoping to get a part-time internship at some sort of local PR company in the spring so that I can further my writing and people skills.

I have learned how to use several types of software in my journalism classes, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and InCopy, as well as basic CSS/XHTML. I would like to master these use of these programs as the year progresses.
