Music has the ability to entertain, excite, intrigue and evoke emotion. The best pieces of music can pull listeners in and hold them captivated with instinctive compliance.

Music is my oldest passion. For as long as I can remember, I loved to sing, in the shower, in the car, pretty much anywhere. I even can't help but harmonize with appliances like the vacuum cleaner.

I have always enjoyed performing solo at various events, but I love singing in choirs. I joined choir in the first grade and continued through high school. After studying music theory and sight-reading, I auditioned for and was selected twice to the Florida All-State Mixed Choir during my last two years of high school. What an experience! It was so much fun singing in a choir of 300 students. I now sing with the University of Florida Pazeni Sauti Africa Choir, which performs traditional music from across the African continent.

My music interests are diverse, with everything from musicals, Disney and Mozart to Queen, Coldplay and The Beatles. My favorite band is the Goo Goo Dolls, and my vocal idol is Celine Dion.

Though I am not pursuing a career in music, I know that music will forever be a part of me and that I will continue to sing for as long as I live.
