Me and my first visit to UF.

I am a 21-year-old undergrad journalism student at the University of Florida who is from Pensacola, Fla. I've lived in Florida all my life, and the only time I've moved from home was to go to school at UF.

I transferred to UF in August of 2009 from Pensacola Junior College, which is now Pensacola State College, with an Associate's degree in Journalism. While I was studying at PJC I was the photo editor of student paper, The Corsair, a member of the Robinson's Honors Society and a member of the Theta Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Many opportunities came my way while I was at PJC working for The Corsair:

Me and Michael at McGuire's Irish Pub.

I'm also in a long-distance relationship with my future husband: Michael Allister. We've been together for more than two years and engaged since Valentine's Day of 2010. We plan to wed April 7, 2012 in Pensacola with about 200 family and friends present.

Back home, I have two amazing parents who have supported me all the way: Doyce and Linda Spears. They were born and raised in the Pensacola area, too. I'm the youngest of my four siblings, but I'm older than my eight-month-old neice and 15-year-old nephew. Most of my extended family lives in Pensacola, and Milton, Florida. My close friends, who are like family, also live in Pensacola and are going to the University of West Florida.

My kitten Speckles.

Besides siblings and friends, I have two grown cats and one kitten. The two grown cats, Tinkerbell and Pepper, live with my parents at home. The latest addition to our family came on Labor Day weekend when my mom brought me a black and white kitten from home. I named her Speckles because she is white with speckled black spots. She is a ball of energy and loves to play with almost anything.

That's pretty much it about me!
