My name is Anna Quintana and I am a writer. I currently live in Gainesville, Fl, where I attend the University of Florida. As a student at UF, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. I am originally from Miami, where I grew up with my parents, John and Ana, older sister, Laurene, and my younger brother, Raymond. I graduated from Coral Reef High School, with an International Baccalaureate diploma.

Growing up in Miami, Sundays to me meant going with my parents to Publix and sitting on the floor surrounded with all types of magazines. It was my guilty pleasure, reading magazines, and to this day still is. As I got older my preferences shifted to different magazines, but my passion did not waver, it only grew. I have to read a magazine page by page, looking at all the advertisements, letters to the editor, everything. I also save all my magazines, which explains by addiction. Magazines are a huge part of my life so choosing a major when I got to college was extremely simple: I would be a journalism major. I just can not see myself doing anything else.

I have been able to work at various news organizations during my time at UF. I have written articles for the Independent Florida Alligator, the student-run campus newspaper. I also spent my Spring 2010 semester interning at The North Florida Herald, where I covered city commission meetings as well as events in the community. My summer of 2010 was spent at The Miami Herald, where I worked in the Neighbors section. Currently, I am writing for the community magazine Home: Living in the Heart of Florida.

Being a full-time college student, I have perfected the skill of multitasking. With a full course load and the reporting I do on the side, I also excel at time management. I am able to meet deadlines, am organized and have a strong work ethic. My communication skills and curiosity are also skills I find valuable in any work environment.
