About Me

My name is Rebecca Leibowitz and I'm from Cooper City, Fla., a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. I'm a senior at the University of Florida and plan on graduating in May 2011 with a dual degree in Public Relations and Political Science. My two majors complemented each other greatly, and have taught me two very important things: how to communicate with different types of people, and that by knowing your target audience's background, you can cater to their needs and interests. Within these past four years I have discovered my passion, social media and technology. My courses at the University of Florida's College of Journalism have prepared me to enter the field of public relations and feel confident in the skills I have been taught.

It's great to be a Florida Gator! I grew up going to Gator Growl and Homecoming football games because my entire family is Gators fans, even my little cousins! Some of my best memories from those weekends were trips to the Swamp and Leonardo's Pizza. Since freshman year I've been involved in my sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi and the largest student-run philanthropy on campus, Dance Marathon. These organizations have made my experience at UF amazing and I love being a part of them.

The Swamp

I enjoy hanging out with my friends, painting my nails, reading about current events on the Internet, spending time with my family and traveling. I've recently been working on my cooking skills after being inspired by the fabulous chefs on the Food Network. After a long day I love to just sit on the couch, relax and watch one of my favorite TV shows, "Law and Order: SVU" or "Top Chef."
