As a third year journalism student, I have seized and conquered courses that will help develop my journalistic writing skills. From Writing for Mass Communication to the infamous Reporting course, I have learned important grammar lessons, fact-checking strategies and AP style. With my focus on magazines, I am currently enrolled in Magazine and Feature Writing, where I am l veering away from hard news stories and discovering how to write feature articles.

As technology is constantly evolving and journalism is changing, I believe it is important to have Internet skills. Multimedia courses opened my eyes to many different ways of telling journalistic stories, from recording and editing audio to creating soundslides and editing video material. Now, I am learning to write XHTML and CSS codes to create Web sites, such as this one.

I have contributed to Gainesville publications such as The Independent Alligator and The Gainesville Sun. While I enjoy reporting hard news on deadline, I hope to gain feature writing skills. This past summer of 2010, I worked my first internship in Miami Beach, Fla., at a magazine called 944. This fall semester, I am working with INsite Magazine, contributing to the blog and monthly print issues.
