Reading , for me is a very important, necessary habit. Yes, I have a reading habit, drugs and alcohol are not habits they are problems. I read daily, and have a massive book collection. I love to read and I love the magic place I am transported to when I'm enthralled in a book. I think it's important to set aside time during the day to read for at least 30 minutes. It is also important to find the right authors and genres that appeal to you, as the reader. Alot of people don't read because they can't find anything that interests them, and that is a shame because there are so many genres and sub genres to choose from. After you establish what you like, you find out who you like. Every Author has his/her own unique writing style, and some readers either like it or they don't. There are certain times when a good story overshadows a writing style you may not be a fan of, and that's when you start broadening your preferences. I like various different genres and styles of writing and enjoy changing up what i read from time to time.
Here are a few of my favorite books and authors:
BAG OF BONES by Stephen KingThis book unlocked a whole new world for me. The vivid, amazingly crafted story introduced me to what a good story is and what it can do; transport you to a world you could have never imagined on your own. I was shocked and enthralled.
A WIDOW FOR ONE YEAR by John Irving
This is a story of loss and grief, and how the dead can grip you years after an actual death. You will always carry the ones you have lost with you the rest of your life. It's the effects of death that throw life into an entirely different path.
THE BLUE BLOODS Series by Melissa De La Cruz
With five books to date and a spin off series in the works, I am looking forward to being entertained for years to come. A fresh take on the vampire legend, every book in this series is a page turner.
THE TWILIGHT Saga by Stephenie Meyer
I am a hopeless romantic, and there is something about the vampire legend that is very alluring, so the twilight saga is my guilty pleasure.
THE HUNGER GAMES Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
A modern day take on a totalitarian dictatorship that has enslaved what little remains of Panem, the 13 districts that remained after the fall of the former United States of America.
LUCKY by Alice Sebold
A true story about rape and its ever present torment over victims of rape. This book was an incredibly inspiring story and will always remain a favorite of mine.
