Amy Rigby's Goals

My plans are to...

Work at CNN

CNN is my favorite source of news, and because they have a headquarters in Atlanta, I could work pretty close to home. I'd probably live in the suburbs of Atlanta if I got a job there.

Meet Anderson Cooper

In case you don't know, he has his own news show on CNN. He's one of the most genuine journalists out there, and he is a man of great integrity. In every story he does, I can see that he really cares about the people it affects. He's willing to literally immerse himself into the story--whether that means standing in the eye of a hurricane, or ducking from gunshots in the middle of violence in the Middle East. I read his memoir, and it changed my life.

Start a scholarship foundation

Since I'm a college student who depends on scholarships, I understand just how important they are. I want to be able to help a struggling student afford to pay for an education. I think it would be a great way to help people out, and also leave a great legacy.

Live in the country.

As a young girl growing up in a small southern town, I always thought I'd be happier in a big city. After many trips to cities like Atlanta and Chicago, I've discovered that I love the open, country air. I feel like I can't breathe in a city--with its traffic, crowds and noise. Living in the wide open space is much more relaxing.

Be happy

Through all the struggles of fighting for a career as a journalist, I sometimes wonder if it will all be worth it in the end. Most of the time, I believe it will be. I have to believe it will be. But whatever happens, my ultimate goal is to be happy.
